Choosing the right device test

Device Test Tools let you check the hardware you rely on every day before a call, a game, a recording or a repair. Instead of guessing whether a problem comes from a webcam, a microphone, a keyboard or a display, you can run a focused test and see what your browser actually receives from each device.

Before an online meeting, use the Microphone Test to watch live levels and a waveform, and the Camera / Webcam Test to preview your image, choose a camera and confirm the resolution it is really delivering. The Speaker & Stereo Channel Test plays quiet left, right and stereo tones, which quickly reveals swapped or dead channels. If keys seem to stick or double, the Keyboard Test shows held keys, repeats and modifier states. The LCD / Monitor / Display Test cycles colors and patterns to help you spot stuck pixels or uneven backlight, and the Gamepad / Controller Test displays button presses and analog stick values with a dead-zone indicator. For lessons or bug reports, the built-in screen recorder captures and saves clips locally.

These tests run in your browser with no media uploads. Remember that results reflect what the browser reports, not a lab diagnosis. The refresh rate test estimates animation timing rather than the exact panel specification, and the graphics test runs a short rendering workload without making any claim about hardware health. Close other heavy tabs for steadier readings.
