How to make and color your own mandala
Generate an original mandala from symmetry, rings, detail and line weight, color it online and download SVG line art, a PNG or a print-ready PDF.
- Set the symmetry: 6 to 12 repeats gives bold petals, 16 to 32 gives fine lace-like rings.
- Choose how many rings the mandala has and the level of detail, from Relaxed to Intricate.
- Press Surprise me until a design catches your eye, or type a design number to recreate one.

What makes a good coloring mandala
A mandala is built from rings around a centre, with the same motif repeated at equal angles. Coloring pages need closed shapes of different sizes: a few large petals to fill quickly and many small ones for careful work.
The generator stacks rings of petals, scallops, stars, dots, arches, teeth and woven arcs, chosen by the design number, and adds corner ornaments so the page feels complete when printed.
Choosing the settings
Symmetry sets how many times each motif repeats. Eight repeats feel calm and bold, twelve is classic and twenty or more look like lace. More rings and higher detail add smaller areas and take longer to color.
Line weight changes how thick the outlines are. Use 4 to 6 for markers, children and phone screens, and 2 to 3 for fine pens and colored pencils.
Useful tips and limitations
- Thicker lines are easier to color on a phone and print more clearly on a home printer.
- Write down the design number with the settings: they recreate exactly the same mandala later.
- Keep the generator open in one tab and the coloring studio in another to compare designs.
- Download the SVG to cut mandalas with a craft cutter or to engrave them.

Why does the same number always give the same mandala?
The generator is deterministic: the design number seeds the random choices of ring motifs, so the same settings always produce the same drawing.
