How to make a Ramadan Sehri and Iftar timetable

Build a 30-day Ramadan timetable with Sehri and Iftar times for your city, starting from the expected Umm al-Qura date or the date announced locally.

  1. Choose your city, use your location, or enter coordinates and a time zone.
  2. Check the Hijri year and the first day of Ramadan. The date starts from the Umm al-Qura calendar; change it to the date announced by your local moon-sighting authority.
  3. Pick the calculation method and Asr school used in your area, and the high-latitude rule if you live far north or south.
  4. Optionally add precaution minutes: stop eating a few minutes before Fajr (imsak) or wait a few minutes after sunset before Iftar.
  5. Read the timetable, print it, or download it as a CSV file for a spreadsheet or a noticeboard.

Why make your own Ramadan timetable

During Ramadan the day's schedule turns on two moments: the end of Sehri at the start of Fajr and Iftar at sunset. Printed timetables are not always available for smaller towns, for students away from home or for families who have just moved, and they may use a method different from the one your mosque follows.

This calendar lets you choose the city, the method and the start date yourself, then print or download a clean table for the whole month.

Worked example: Ramadan 1448 in London and Makkah

With the expected start of 8 February 2027 and the Muslim World League method, London's first day has Sehri ending at 05:34 and Iftar at 17:02, a fast of 11 hours 28 minutes. By day 30 (9 March 2027) Sehri ends at 04:41 and Iftar is at 17:54, a fast of 13 hours 13 minutes, because the days lengthen quickly in late winter.

In Makkah with Umm al-Qura, day 1 has Sehri ending at 05:38 and Iftar at 18:15; Isha is shown 120 minutes after Maghrib, as the Umm al-Qura method sets during Ramadan.

How the dates and times are worked out

The default start date is 1 Ramadan on the Umm al-Qura calendar, read from the calendar data built into your browser. Umm al-Qura is a calculated calendar; many countries and communities start the month after the new crescent is sighted, which can be a day later or earlier.

Each row is calculated with the same prayer-time engine as the Prayer Times tool. Sehri ends at Fajr minus any precaution minutes you add, Iftar is at Maghrib plus any precaution minutes, and the fast length is the time between them. The table always shows 30 days so you can ignore the last row in a 29-day month.

Common mistakes to avoid

Do not assume the calculated start date is confirmed; check the announcement from your local mosque or national authority and change the date if needed. Make sure the time zone matches the city, especially if you entered coordinates by hand.

Use the same method and precaution as your mosque if you want your times to match its timetable. A difference of a few minutes usually comes from the method, the precaution minutes or rounding.

Useful tips and limitations

  • Print one copy for the fridge and one for the mosque noticeboard, with the city and method shown at the top.
  • If Ramadan starts a day later than expected where you live, change the start date and every row moves with it.
  • Download the CSV to add the times to a shared family calendar or spreadsheet.
  • If you add 10 minutes of imsak, the table states it at the top so everyone reading it knows.

Common questions

When does Ramadan 1448 start?

The Umm al-Qura calendar expects 1 Ramadan 1448 on 8 February 2027, with 29 days. The actual start depends on the moon sighting or the calendar followed in your country, so confirm the date locally.

Is Sehri the same as Fajr in the Ramadan Calendar?

Yes. Eating must stop when Fajr begins, so the Sehri column shows the Fajr time unless you add precaution minutes, in which case it shows that many minutes earlier.

Can the Ramadan Calendar show 29 days?

It always lists 30 days and tells you the Umm al-Qura month length. If the month ends after 29 days where you live, ignore the 30th row.

Why is Isha later in the Ramadan Calendar for Makkah?

The Umm al-Qura method sets Isha 120 minutes after Maghrib in Ramadan instead of the usual 90. The calendar applies this automatically when you choose Umm al-Qura.

Can I print the Ramadan Calendar on one page?

Choose Print timetable. Only the table and its heading are printed, which usually fits on one A4 or Letter page in portrait.
