How to count dhikr with an online tasbeeh counter
Count dhikr with a large tap button, the space bar or Enter, set a target such as 33 or 100, and keep a history of your counts in this browser.
- Choose a phrase from the list. Each one shows the Arabic, a transliteration and the meaning.
- Pick a target of 33, 99 or 100, or choose Custom and enter your own number, or 0 for no target.
- Tap the large circle, or focus it and press Space or Enter, once for each recitation. The ring fills as you approach the target.
- When you reach the target, the circle glows and supported phones vibrate. Keep counting for another round, or tap Save & reset.
- Check the history list to see earlier counts with their date and time.
Why use a digital tasbeeh counter
Many Muslims count remembrance of Allah (dhikr) on prayer beads or their fingers. A digital counter helps when you want to recite a phrase a set number of times, keep count during a long session, or pick up exactly where you left off later in the day.
This counter works in any modern browser without an app. It keeps your count if the page reloads and stores a short history so you can see what you completed today or earlier in the week.
Worked example: a 33-33-33 routine
Choose SubhanAllah and a target of 33, then tap 33 times; the ring fills, the circle glows and a supported phone vibrates. Tap Save & reset, choose Alhamdulillah and count another 33, then Allahu Akbar for 33. The history now shows three entries of 33 with the time of each, and the total counted on this device rises by 99.
For a longer session of 100 Astaghfirullah, choose it from the list (its target is 100) and keep tapping. If you continue past 100, the counter carries on and shows completed rounds, such as 2 rounds of 100 at 200.
How counting, targets and history work
Each tap, Space or Enter adds one to the count. When the count reaches a multiple of the target the counter signals it, so you can count several rounds without resetting. Undo removes the last tap. Save & reset adds the count to the history with the phrase, target and time, and changing the phrase saves the current count automatically.
The state is stored in your browser's local storage under this site only. The history keeps the 50 most recent entries; Clear history removes them and resets the total.
Common mistakes to avoid
Holding down Space does not add repeated counts, which prevents accidental runs; press it once for each recitation. Private browsing windows and some privacy settings clear local storage when you close them, so the history may not survive in those modes.
Remember that the counter is a convenience. The number of times to recite a phrase and when to do so follow the guidance of your scholars and teachers.
Useful tips and limitations
- Turn off vibration if you count in a quiet place where a buzz would disturb others.
- On a computer, click the circle once and then use the space bar so your eyes can stay away from the screen.
- Add the page to your phone's home screen for one-tap access.
- Use Undo if you tap twice by mistake rather than resetting the whole count.
Common questions
Does the Tasbeeh Counter keep my count if I close the page?
Yes, in the same browser on the same device. The current count, target and history are saved in local storage and come back when you return, unless you clear site data or browse privately.
Why does my phone not vibrate when I reach the target?
Vibration works only in browsers that support the Vibration API, which most Android browsers do. iPhone browsers do not allow websites to vibrate, so the circle glows instead.
Can I set a custom target in the Tasbeeh Counter?
Yes. Choose Custom and enter any number up to 100,000, or 0 to count without a target.
Can I use the Tasbeeh Counter with a keyboard?
Yes. Click or tab to the large circle, then press Space or Enter for each count. The buttons for undo and reset are reachable with the Tab key.
Is the Arabic in the Tasbeeh Counter shown with vowel marks?
Yes. Each phrase is shown in Arabic with vowel marks, followed by a common English transliteration and a short meaning.
Your counts and progress are saved only in this browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed; clearing site data removes them.
